Bud is no Bud to Baseball Fans

If Bud Selig meant what he said about accepting "complete responsibility" for the steroids scandal, he should have done the honorable thing and resigned. After looking the other way during his 16-year Reign of Error, he embarrassed himself and the game, then compounded the felony with his testimony before Congress. The fact that owners rewarded him with a three-year contract extension the following day shows that they are willing parties in a fraud perpetrated on the baseball fans of the world. Sure, more money may be coming into club coffers (how else could they pay Bud Lite $14.5 million a year?) but the once-sacred reputation of the game is long gone. To make matters even worse, Buddy boy promises that fans "won't recognize the game" by the time he leaves office. For all who care about the game, that day can't come soon enough.
